Four works. One obedience.

Church, school, clinic, and road are not a menu of sectors. They are how we teach the nations to observe all that Christ commanded.

Local church

Pacific Baptist Mission’s primary work is gospel proclamation and the strengthening of biblical local churches. We labour with pastors and congregations already on the ground, and we gather shepherds to be equipped rather than replacing them from outside.

An annual pastors’ conference is being established to train local pastors across Malaita in sound doctrine, biblical preaching, and missional discipleship.

A recent visit included two sermons in the church, one in Pijin, unplanned but fruitful. Pijin is proving usable for clear gospel proclamation, not only conversation, and people approached more readily once they heard the Word in a language they live in every day.

Present: preaching and discipleship with the local church at Jordan; clear Scripture teaching named as a continuing need.
Next: the pastors’ conference, and ongoing support of local shepherds.

Emarald Baptist School

Emarald Baptist School aims to give children in rural Malaita a Christian education that is thorough and practical: literacy, numeracy, and the Scriptures arriving together. Teacher training is underway: Honiara sessions for mindset and framework, then practical workshops on the ground at Jordan in phonics and computer skills.

The field is naming Kwaio literacy as the main gap to Bible reading: people are not reading Scripture in Kwaio because they have not been taught to. The highest-yield curriculum change is phonics in Kwaio first, then English. Teachers welcomed Scripture in the curriculum; satisfaction with training is rising, but that is not the same as the discipleship need being met.

Present: buildings rising; teachers trained in full phonics content and curriculum, not only textbook models.
Next: Kwaio-first literacy tied to Bible reading; classrooms finished, power, staff housing, and an opening the communities can gather to.

Jordan Medical Clinic

The clinic opened in September 2024. It is the first completed public proof of the work. Starlink was brought in so care is not cut off when the river rises. Pharmacy supplies, power, and a volunteer medical roster remain part of the next stage.

Health here is not a separate brand. The clinic is mercy beside the pulpit.

Present: clinic open.
Next: supplies, power, and consistent clinical presence.

Road and access

A community road would connect isolated villages to church, school, and clinic. 13 tribal leaders signed a memorandum of understanding in 2026 to allow access across customary land. Construction waits on partners.

Until the road is built, aerial cargo and telecommunications are being pursued so medicine and materials are not permanently bound to a footpath. Starlink is already serving the clinic.

Present: access agreed on paper; internet at the clinic.
Next: first stage of construction; interim aerial and energy solutions.

Every project has a named next need.

Plain asks beat vague invitation. School completion and the community road are the present needs.
