East Kwaio and East Kwara’ae, Malaita.
Pacific Baptist Mission serves communities across the broader Pacific region, with active work in Jordan Village and the surrounding communities of East Kwaio and East Kwara’ae. A walk of several hours from the nearest road, a river that decides the day, and villages that have opened the land.
Why here
Malaita is the most populated province in the Solomon Islands. Our active work is more particular than that: Jordan Village and the surrounding communities of East Kwaio and East Kwara’ae.
Generational custom is strong. Access is poor. Literacy in the province is among the lowest in the country. Infant mortality and malnutrition are still neighbours. None of that is an argument for a generic programme. It is the reason the work is local, slow, and bound to people who already live here.
Cultural fluency and earned social trust are the real currency. In March 2026, 13 tribal leaders signed a memorandum of understanding granting access for a community road across customary land. That kind of agreement is not purchased. It is earned on foot.
